ABOUT THE BOOK

There are two paths to follow when homosexuality hits a Biblebelieving home. One is the easy path. The other is the not-so-easy path. We tend to look the other way when the easy path is chosen. As we look the other way, we craft our reasoning for why it should be so. Those who prefer the not-so-easy pathway, however, in dealing with homosexuality in the home seem to be willing to fight against the unwelcome invader with a vengeance.

When our son Danny engaged in homosexual behavior, we, as born-again parents, chose the not-so-easy path: the biblical path. To select the biblical path, we had to answer the following: (1) Do we believe that, according to the Bible, homosexuality is a sin? (2) Does what we read in the Bible support our belief? Our answer to both is a resounding yes!

We could have chosen the easy way. We could have allowed our thirteen-year-old son to live his life according to his definition of himself and be happy about it. But he was just an adolescent when the first signs emerged in his mannerisms. We couldn’t let it happen. As Christian parents, we knew homosexuality had no place in his life or our home. By so declaring, we were also affirming our resoluteness in fighting against the demon of sexual perversion, as our son Danny called it in his online post in 2007.

In When God Remains, this writer welcomes the reader into her world of loss, grief, tears, joy, prayer, doubts, church ministry, anger, frustration, solitude, and loneliness. In her world, only one thing is constant: God’s presence. This work expands on what the Bible says about sexual immorality and how homosexuality is highlighted as such.
